Gordon Sexton Obituary
At the age of 73, Gordon Dean Sexton, a 40-year resident of Hercules, California passed away at the Kaiser hospital in Richmond, California on April 19, 2025, after battling Parkinson's disease and esophageal cancer. Gordy was born on April 27, 1951, in Oakland, California at the Oak Knoll Naval Hospital. He is survived by his second wife Sharon Sexton, children Wade Allred, James Sexton, Harlene (Joseph) Mentor and Jennie (Stephen) Campbell, grandchildren Kindel, Joey, Ashley, Lucas, Kennan, Rebecca, Cara, Margaret, Jordan and Owen, great grandchild Zane, siblings Bruce Sexton, Shirley Latessa, Beverly (Jim) Richard and Glenn Sexton, and brothers and sisters-in-law Donald (Annette) Pfister and John (Minda) Pfister. Gordy grew up in Hayward and graduated from Sunset High School in 1969. After graduating, he began working as a Field Clerk for PG&E in November of 1969, where he worked for 37 ½ years before retiring on April 23, 2007. During his employment, he volunteered for the Pacific Service Employees Association (PSEA) and planned an annual fishing trip, fish fry and picnic for its members. On September 29, 2024, he achieved 45 years of sobriety and on March 15, 2025, he celebrated his 44th wedding anniversary. Favorite pastimes included hunting, deep-sea fishing in Alaska for salmon and halibut with his friends and freshwater fishing for trout in his aluminum boat, as well as collecting knives and coins. Gordy was preceded in death by his first wife Margie Walters, sister Janice Hice and nephew Joe Hice, sister-in-law Donna Sexton, brother-in-law John Latessa and niece Angelina Keck, nephew Erich Pfister, father and mother-in-law Donald and Lydia Pfister, parents Lester and Ruth Sexton, and grandparents Lew and Helen Marsellis and Fletcher Sexton. The memorial service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11 AM at the Wilson & Krazter Chapel of the Mission Bells in San Pablo, (510) 232-6552 and the burial will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 2 PM at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery in Gridley, (530) 846-2537.
