2024. She was born on August 26, 1932, in Middlesex to the late Eddie and Bessie Hogge. She
graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in King and Queen County. While working at the West
Point Telephone company above the old C&F bank building, she met her future husband, Eddie
Bernoski, who from the drugstore across the street, fell in love with her legs as he watched her
come & go. They were married for 64 years.
Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bernoski, grandson, Jakeb Bernoski,
granddaughter, Michelle Castonguay Stillwell, her brothers: Eugene and John Hogge, her
sisters: Agnes Johnson, Marion Thrift, Olivia Daniel, and Frances Hogge, her nieces Bessie
Guthrie and Melody Brooks, and her nephews Frankie & Herbie Hogge and George Daniel.
Gracie leaves to cherish her sweet and loving memories: daughter, Shirley Castonguay, son,
James Bernoski (Cheryl), grandchildren: Justin Castonguay (Keydron), Stefanie Kalaskas (Al),
Christina Obershaw (Brent), Jocelyn Vincent (Chris), Jeromie Houston (Lorie), Jamison
Houston, great grandchildren Abby, Dani, Hannah, Lizam, Camryn, Cody, Elly Cate, Smith,
Stone, Cooper, Jack Hendrix, Phoenix, Penelope, and great great grandchildren Bria and
Waylon, brother Fred Hogge (Pauline), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gracie was a kind, funny, and incredibly nurturing woman, who truly loved everyone. Her home
was a safe Haven free from judgment or prejudice to anyone that would visit. Her love language
was feeding people, being well-known for her angel biscuits, pierogies and chicken soup. She
loved her crossword puzzles and played every card game, though Canasta was her favorite.
The family would like to give special thanks to Tammy, a nurse on the fourth floor at
Williamsburg Sentara Hospital. And also, to the wonderful people with Hospice of Virginia.
Funeral service will be held at Noon on March 7, 2024, at Vincent's funeral home, West Point,
VA 23181, with a private burial following the service at St Theresa cemetery, West Point, VA.

Grace lived with Eddie diagonally across the street from my late Mom and Dad's home. Grace lived a beautiful and gracious life for 94 years....nearly a century. My sincere condolences to the family.
