Grace Edna Hillier Bobgan went to be with Jesus, her Savior, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN on Monday, June 3, 2024. Grace was born June 18, 1941 to parents, Stanley and Helen Hillier, in a car on the way to the hospital in Austin, MN. She lived one year on her grandparents Harvey and Edna Hillier's farm in Brownsdale, MN, where her parents worked. In 1942 her family moved to Chanhassen Township, Excelsior, MN to her other grandparents Herbert and Grace Aspden's dairy farm after her grandmother Grace died.
Grace attended school in Chaska and graduated in 1959. She loved animals, especially her cats. She showed a calf several years at the county fair for 4-H and also enjoyed riding horses. Grace lived in Minneapolis and did cleaning jobs for a time. In 1989 she married Howard Bobgan there. He died in 1991.
In 2006 Grace moved to Southside Care Center in south Minneapolis. Here she enjoyed feeding the birds and playing bingo but she missed her cats. Her faith and prayer were very important to her. In 2020 she moved to Lygnblomsten in St. Paul near her niece, Janice Rasmusen, who was her health advocate and visited her weekly.
Grace is survived by her sister, Mary (Clarence) Horsager, Verndale, MN, her brother, William (Zoila) Hillier, Temecula, CA and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Grace in death were her parents, infant brother, Leland and husband, Howard.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, June 7, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation before the service at Washburn-McReavy Eden Prairie Chapel; 7625 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie, MN. A graveside service will follow at Pioneer Cemetery, Chanhassen, MN with Grace's nephew, Charles, officiating at both services.
