Grace Ann Bonfiglio, of Farmington Hills, passed peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, August 31, 2025. She was 93 years old.

Born in January of 1932, in Detroit, Grace was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Josephine (Hoga) Williams. She attended St. Juliana Elementary School in Detroit, graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit, and went on to earn her bachelor's degree at Marygrove College, followed by her Master's degree in Education from the University of Michigan. Grace met Joseph Bonfiglio at the Catholic University Club of Detroit and went on to marry in 1966. With deep dedication to her vocation, Grace spent her entire teaching career at Macomb Elementary School in Detroit, where she touched countless young lives with her patience, guidance, and wisdom.

Beyond her classroom, Grace pursued her passion for history and her family heritage. She served as president of the Oakland County Genealogical Society, where she devoted her time to preserving stories and connections for future generations. She was also a faithful and longtime member of the Church of the Transfiguration in Southfield, where she lived out her faith through active participation and fellowship.

Grace will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her devotion to her family, her steadfast faith, and her lifelong passion for learning and teaching created a legacy that will be carried forward by all who loved her.

Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Col Joseph Bonfiglio, US Army, Ret., on June 4, 2009, and her step-son, Patrick Bonfiglio. Surviving are her devoted step-daughter, Andrea (Jim) Henderson; granddaughters, Kristie (Todd) Biron and Debbie Henderson; great-grandchildren, Collin Metzler, Sofia Metzler, Alexandra Henderson, and Anthony Montes; her sister, Kathleen Atkins; nephew, Mark (Rose) Atkins, and nieces, Michele (Kim) Gosser and Mary (Ed) Dwyer.

Family and friends may gather for visitation at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in downtown Farmington on Thursday, September 4, from 4-7 pm. A prayer service will conclude the evening at 7 pm.

Grace's funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday morning, September 5, at 10:00 am (instate 9:30 am) at the Church of the Transfiguration, 25225 Code Road, Southfield.

Private entombment will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum, Southfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes are suggested to the Library of Michigan Foundation, Lansing, to support and raise funds for the Library of Michigan to help preserve Michigan history and culture, ensure broad access to quality information, and to promote rich literary programs and life-long reading.

Grace and I were roommates on more than 30 years of genealogy research trips to Salt Lake City, Utah. We never missed going to mass while there at the lovely historic Cathedral of the Madeleine. I depended on her sage advice and counsel as I led the groups and in dealing with my own life´s challenges. She was a wonderful president for multiple terms leading Oakland County Genealogical Society. Miss you Grace and am grateful to God for your life. RIP
