Grace L. Schemmer, 82 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, Missouri. Born Sunday, November 3, 1935 in Higginsville, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Riekhof and the late Matilda Temple Riekhof. She married Kenneth W. Schemmer on January 30, 1955 and he survives of the home. She was a 1953 graduate of Higginsville High School. She worked at REA as a receptionist from 1953-1960. She served as president of the Lafayette County Porkettes in 1978 and 1979. She served on the Lafayette County Extension Council from 1982-1985. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, she was active in various church committees and served on the Church Council from 1975-1979.. Surviving are her husband Kenneth; one son, Kevin (Beth) Schemmer of Higginsville, MO; one daughter, Diane (Charles) Dudley of Higginsville; one sister, June Price of Las Vegas, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Kyle Schemmer, Wesley Schemmer, Haley Schemmer, Ryan Dudley and Ross Dudley. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dr. E.T. Riekhof and Richard Riekhof. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Salem United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Tommy L. Faris officiating and Jamie Smith, organist. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Friday, December 22, 2017, at Salem United Church of Christ, Casket bearers are Kyle Schemmer, Wesley Schemmer, Haley Schemmer, Ryan Dudley and Ross Dudley.
