PRINCETON, WV – Grace Kathryn Spangler Via, "Kitty", 90, of Princeton, WV, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown, WV. Kitty was born April 12, 1935, in Cashmere, WV. She was the daughter of the late Henry "Bud" and Nannie Bell Scarberry Spangler. She was a member of Mount Jackson Baptist Church in Athens, WV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Via, and her brother Richard "Dick" Spangler. Survivors include her daughter Vicky Plummer (Phil) of Randleman, NC, son Charles R. Via (Dora) of Lindside, WV, daughter Kathy McDaniels (Kermit) of Galax, VA, sister Joyce Martin of Lindside, WV, brother David Spangler (Judy) of Richmond, VA, nine grandchildren, April Janutolo-Tatro (Mary) of Asheboro, NC, Tony Janutolo (Stephanie) of Asheboro, NC, Amanda Via of Princeton, WV, Ashley Wilmouth (Tony) of Woodlawn, VA, Chad Via (Alex) of Princeton, WV, Andrew McDaniels of Galax, VA, Katie Erikson (Greg) of Asheboro, NC, Donna Adams (Justin) of Deep Gap, NC, James Blankenship (Lana) of Clover, SC, and sixteen great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Orchard Cemetery of Ballard, WV. Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 P.M., April 18, 2025, at the funeral home. The online guestbook can be signed, or condolences may be sent to the family at www.broyles-shrewbury.com.
