Mr. Howard Reid Via, age 82, of Barnesville, Georgia passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on January 15, 1943, in Winston Salem, North Carolina, the son of the late Otis Woodson Via Sr. and Nannie Howard (Reid) Via. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Howard Reid Via Jr., and a brother, Otis "OW" Woodson Via Jr.

Howard proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years, where he was honorably discharged. Following his service, he continued a life of dedication and discipline as part of the Sheriff's Posse.

A master of his craft, Howard founded his cabinetry business in 1987. With his skill, creativity, and determination, he built the business from the ground up, expanding it over the years into something that reflected both his talent and his character. After his "retirement" in 2006, Howard never truly set aside his tools. He discovered new passions in woodturning, creating beautiful pens, and designing projects for friends and family. His hands were rarely still, and everything he built carried a part of his heart.

Howard met the love of his life in 1992, and the two were later married in 2000. Together they built a home filled with devotion, laughter, and countless memories. He was also a devoted father who loved his children deeply and wanted the best for them. Beyond his work, Howard also found joy in his garden, tending to it the same care and pride he gave to everything in his life.

Howard will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his generosity, and his unwavering love for those closest to him. His legacy lives on in the things he built, the people he touched, and the family he so deeply cherished.

He leaves behind his wife, Dianne Via; children, Russell (Michelle) Via, Raymond (Makel) Chandler, Joel Cruz, and Tiffany Chandler; grandchildren, Kendall, Cody, Bennett, Bryce, Tanner, and Charlie; as well as several extended family members and a host of friends.

A service to honor Mr. Via's life will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2025, beginning 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Matt Grimes officiating. Interment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Yesterday

We have lost an amazing man yesterday.
Truly a father figure to a lot of us young men. Ive known him since my early twenties and have been fortunate to spend some good quility time with him over the last few months at his home in Georgia. The strength of this small southern man is compared to the biggest and smartest person you could have ever met. I owe almost all of my success to this man. He has taught me to be a better man in my lifes journeys. His love of God and spiritual ways was a reflection of the man he was. I know today he's flying with the angels and with Jesus. I will miss his so much like all others will as well. Keep his family in your prayers. And out of all the things Howard would say " Out of all the people l know, you are one of them" God be with you all and God Bless.
