Grace Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rees Funeral Home on Feb. 1, 2025.
Mrs. Grace Louise Deason Wright, 89, of McCormick, met her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 1st, where she was surrounded by her loving family.
Grace was born on June 4, 1935, in McCormick, S.C. Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Wallace, on December 29, 2024, and her parents, J.B. "Burt" and Pearl Weeks Deason. She is survived by her children, Glenn Wright (Donalyn) of McCormick, S.C., Pam Parton of Lincolnton, G.A., and Judy Craft of Concord, N.C. She was affectionately known as Ma Ma, and leaves behind her six grandchildren: Aaron, Mandy, Josh, Joel, Preston, and Ryan; and 12 great grandchildren: Lane, RJ, Gracie Kay, Emory, Kashton, Henry, Ethan, Logan, Ilah, Ralph, Paisley, and Easton. Grace also leaves behind one sister, Dorothy Deason Scott (Billy) of Fort Mill, S.C.
Grace graduated from McCormick High School. After she graduated, her employment career included McCormick Mill, Riegel Textiles, Talmadge Manufacturing, and the McCormick County school system, where she retired after many years of service. She was a devoted member of First Assembly of God in Lincolnton. Grace's first love was Jesus Christ. She lived her life for Him and took advantage of every opportunity she had to share God's love and the plan of salvation. She was a tremendous prayer warrior, and when she told you she was going to pray for you or a specific prayer request, you could count on her prayer.
Grace was married to her beloved husband, Wallace, for 72 years. Her next love was her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She took so much pride in preparing meals when she knew her family would be getting together. Grace always thought of others before thinking of herself. She had the heart of a servant and nothing made her happier than to prepare a meal or bake a cake for someone who was sick or elderly. She always looked forward to the summer season and working in the garden with Wallace. She would can tomatoes, green beans, and corn and looked forward to enjoying the fresh vegetables in the fall and winter seasons.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Rees Funeral Home in Lincolnton, GA. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at First Assembly of God in Lincolnton with Pastor Terry Bonds and Pastor Lanis Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Overbrook Cemetery in McCormick, SC.
Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Parton, Josh Wright, Joel White, Ryan Craft, Preston Parton and Edward Deason.
The Wright Family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Agape Hospice Care of Greenwood, S.C., and also to their amazing caregivers: Annie Wells, Ammi Williams, Margaret Tulfino, and Staci Millett.
If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Agape Hospice Care, 326 Montague Ave., Greenwood, SC 29649.
