Gracie Paulk Goodwin
March 5, 1953 - March 18, 2025
Gracie Paulk Goodwin, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Gracie departed this life peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the age of 72. She was a beacon of love, strength, and kindness, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Gracie was born on March 5, 1953, in Norwalk, Connecticut, to the late Hazel Sead and Leroy Paulk. She was the third of seven children and was deeply cherished by her siblings, including the late Maryann Floyd, Gail Paulk, Deborah Paulk, Garnell Paulk II, and Felicia Paulk, as well as her surviving sister, Shirley Paulk.
After graduating from Brien McMahon High School in 1970, Gracie embarked on a new chapter in Miami, Florida, where she married the love of her life, Amos Goodwin Jr., at the age of 19. Together, they built a loving home, and a life filled with faith and family. Gracie was a dedicated worker at the United States Postal Service General Mail Facility in Miami, FL. Her passion for cooking led her to work as a chef in several soul food kitchens, where she delighted in sharing her love for food. She even had the honor of cooking for legendary entertainer Sammy Davis Jr., a testament to her exceptional culinary talents.
After many years in Miami, Gracie returned to Connecticut, where she pursued her calling in healthcare. She attended St. Vincent's Nursing School in Bridgeport, CT, and became a compassionate nurse, caring for home care patients with dedication and love until her retirement.
Gracie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Amos Goodwin Jr., and her beloved grandson, Darrien Denzel Goodwin, who passed in 2019.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Terick R. Goodwin, Rashida V. Goodwin (Tony Umoh), Amos R. Goodwin III (Laresha Goodwin) Kharis L. Goodwin, and Edris A. Goodwin, as well as her stepson, Alfred Brown. Gracie's legacy lives on through her 26 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry the lessons, love, and strength she instilled in them.
Gracie had a deep appreciation for music, especially gospel and Motown, and found great joy in singing along to her favorite songs. She was known for her incredible culinary skills, filling her home with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals that brought her family together. Her presence was a source of warmth and laughter, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, all touched by her kindness and generosity.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has sent condolences, prayers, and love during this time of mourning. Your support is deeply appreciated as we honor the beautiful life of Gracie Paulk Goodwin.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
