Gradon Jay "Gradar" Selby, 48, of Gage, Oklahoma, passed away May 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy defined by dedication, resilience, and heartfelt service to his community.
Born on September 28, 1976, Gradon was raised in the small town of Gage, where he developed a passion for trucking at an early age. Riding alongside his father and Uncle Frank, he found not just a profession but a calling. As a proud and hardworking bull hauler, Gradon embraced the long hours and open roads with unwavering commitment. Trucking wasn't just what he did-it was who he was.
Gradon was widely known not only for his work ethic but also for his generosity, quiet strength, and sense of humor. Despite living with chronic pain, he faced each day with perseverance and dignity, never allowing hardship to define him.
A devoted member of the Gage Fire Department, Gradon served his hometown with pride and selflessness. Whether responding to emergencies or offering a helping hand, he was a steadfast presence in the community. "Gradar from Gage" wasn't just a nickname-it was a testament to the deep connection he felt to the people and place that shaped him.
Gradon is survived by his parents, Barbara J. Selby of Ardmore and Rick R. Selby of Gage; his brother, Dustin Selby, and sister-in-law, Mary Travis of Edmond; his grandmother, Betty Selby of Gage; and his nephews, Brady Selby of Oklahoma City, Austin Selby of Moore, and Jacob Johnson of Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.
Gradon's life was one of purpose and authenticity. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who loved him, the roads he traveled, and the community he proudly served. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
