It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gregory Wayne Stradling, 74, on September 9th, 2024. Born in Albuquerque, Greg is the son of Wayne and Helen Stradling, the fourth child of seven children, beloved husband to Sally Ann Sowards to whom he was married and sealed on December 17, 1971, in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ, for time and all eternity. He is survived by his wife Sally, his children Deena Sherwood (Dale), Dana (Jon) Kelly, David Stradling, Amy (Jared) Olson, and Joe (Emily) Stradling, and 20 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sisters Sally Graham, (Major), Mary Beth Simpson, brothers, Kim (Bobby) and Kennard (Andra). He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Stradling, mother, Helen Stradling, sisters Sharon and Jackie, and grandson Justin Stradling. He briefly lived in Albuquerque, then in Bayfield and Durango, Colorado, spending the remainder of his life in Farmington, NM.
Greg graduated from Farmington High school in 1967, he served a mission for his church in the Gulf States from 1969 to 1971, then went on to earn his bachelor's degree in business at BYU. Greg was a building contractor who began working for his dad's business, Stradling Construction, after graduation from college, then continued to work with his brother Kim, and brother-in- law Major Graham, locally building homes and commercial buildings.
He loved the Savior, learning about Him, striving to become closer and being like Jesus Christ. He loved Christmas. His interests were baseball, building model airplanes, dirt bikes, airshows, landscape painting, designing houses, enjoyed reading, learning, and fixing things, and serving in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He especially enjoyed serving in the Albuquerque, NM Temple. He will be remembered as a loving and attentive husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a good friend, baseball coach, scout master, storyteller, problem solver, thoughtful listener, Bishop, creative designer, artist and always having time to talk to anyone who needed him.
Visitation with the family will be held Saturday September 21, 2024 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1310 E. 25th St., Farmington, NM. Followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 am. Interment Greenlawn Cemetery, Farmington, NM
