Floyd William “Bill” Stradling, 87 of Boyne Falls, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Born July 30, 1937, in Petoskey, Bill was the son of William and Rebecca (McMonagle) Stradling.
Bill served in the United States Army from 1960-1962, stationed in Germany. Later he served in the Army Reserves until 1966.
A lifelong area resident, Bill and Eleanor West were married on April 4, 1959, in Boyne City, where they raised their family.
Bill was a longtime long haul truck driver, traveling most of the United States during his career. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed Crosley automobiles and airplanes. He once owned an ultralight aircraft though he never was able to enjoy flying it.
Bill is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 66 years; his daughters, Carol (Marc Pelkey) Hardy and Sally (Johnny) Parker of Boyne Falls; a grandson, Shawn Hardy of Boyne Falls; a brother, Fred Wagonschutz and sister, Mary P. Steffel, both of Petoskey; several step brothers, step sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rebecca Stradling; and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service to remember Bill will be held later. Those who wish are asked to make memorial contributions to Pet Well Mobile Vet by contacting [email protected]
