Gregory Bates Obituary
Gregory Dell Bates, 58, of Ellerbe, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 12, 2025 at his home.
Greg was born January 20, 1967, in Jackson, Mississippi, a son of Al and Nan Varnell Bates. Greg graduated from Richmond Senior High School, Class of 1985 and attended Lees-McRae College. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and worked for UPS. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Ellerbe and enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
Surviving are his wife, Angela McFayden Bates; children, Chandler Bates, Kennedy Bates and Peyton Bates; parents, Al & Nan Bates; brother, Todd Bates (Sharon) and nieces, Sierra, Alexis and Savannah Bates.
The family will receive friends from 11:45 am – 12:45 pm Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Ellerbe. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Caleb Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Ellerbe Cemetery with Military Honors.
