Gregory T. "Greg" Forrest, age 61, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at his home near Scio, Ohio.
Born September 1, 1961, in Owensboro, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Frank Forrest and Ona Ashby Forrest. Greg was a 1979 graduate from Ohio County High School in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. When he turned 16 years old, he started working as a bag boy at Houchen's Foods. Over the 25 years he worked for them, he was promoted numerous times and ultimately became their produce manager. During this time, he was also a tobacco farmer. In 2002, he became a produce inspector for Caito Foods in Indiana. After a year, he became a produce manager at Walmart in New Philadelphia, Ohio and then moved up to produce inspector at Walmart Distribution Center in Wintersville, Ohio.
Greg was Baptist by faith and had belonged to the Woodwards Valley Baptist and East Hartford Baptist Churches in Hartford, KY. He was a passionate University of Kentucky basketball fan. He also enjoyed hunting and raised rabbit dogs years ago.
Surviving is his wife of 17 years, JoAnn Carothers Forrest, daughters Krystal (Chris Moore) Redfern and Lacie Forrest both of Louisianna, Ashley (Preston) Fulmer of Virginia and Dakota (Tori) Beckley of Adena, eight grandchildren and siblings Ronnie (Eunice) Forrest, Dinah (Robert) Howard, Kay (Charles) Patton and Jeff (Debbie) Forrest all of Kentucky.
Services will be held Monday, November 20, 2023, at 1 pm in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Pastor Mike O'Guin officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Scio. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Monday from 11 am to 1 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Koch Funeral Home, PO Box 193, Scio, Ohio 43988 to help with his funeral expenses. www.kochfuneral.com
