Gregory M. Gear, known to most as Greg, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne at the age of 66. Born on August 18, 1957, in Mishawaka, Indiana, Greg was the son of Dallas and Dolores Gear (Fisher).
Greg graduated from Mishawaka High School before pursuing his studies at Ivy Tech and Vincennes University. He later finished schooling in Florida where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in engineering. Greg's passion for engineering led him to a successful career as a civil engineer at the Lakeland Regional Sewer District. After dedicating many years of hard work, he retired this year.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Greg's proudest achievement was his daughter, Danielle. He adored her with all his heart and cherished every moment spent together. In his spare time, he found joy in motorcycle riding and golf. Additionally, he indulged in sci-fi television shows and was an avid Star Trek enthusiast.
Greg will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him. Alongside his daughter Danielle, he leaves behind his brother, Gary Gear of New Paris; nephew, Shawn Gear of Mishawaka; and nieces, Katie (Dan) Parmelee of South Bend and Kasey (Caleb) Meulman of Schoolcraft, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his parents.
