Gregory Trent Godard, 73, of Elm City passed away Monday, February 2, 2026. Funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson with the family receiving friends immediately following the service. Rev. Allen Mills will officiate.
For twenty-five years, Greg was the Executive Director at Upper Coastal Plains Council of Governments. He was also an Eagle Scout, and a former Wilson County Commissioner.
Greg is survived by his wife, Melinda Everett Godard; children, Elizabeth Boswell and husband, Chris of Saratoga, Trent Godard and wife, Erica of New Jersey, Douglas Williams, Jr. and wife, Krissy of Elm City, and Ashley Adams and husband, Rusty of Elm City; grandchildren, Logan “Muffin” Liles, Garrett Boswell, Claire Boswell, Riley Godard, Caleb Williams, Elena Godard and Gregory Trent Godard, III; sisters, Ginger Parnell and Paula Godard both of Myrtle Beach, and Jackson Boyd of Georgia; and brothers, Eric Godard of Swansboro, and Sandy Cherry of Charlotte.
He was preceded by in death by his parents, Melvin Godard and Marie Cherry; and his brother, Raymond “Rock” Cherry.
