Gregory Alan Hagfors
December 9, 1956 - September 23, 2022
Greg was born in Minneapolis, MN, to Warren and Marie (Moen) Hagfors. He graduated from E.J. Cooper High School in 1974 and obtained his B.S. degree in Computer Science at Mankato State University. While in college, he drove city busses. He then worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas before moving back to Minneapolis. He was very active in the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. He also obtained his pilot license and even flew some of us to a family reunion near Cambridge once! He drove city busses in Minneapolis for a while, also. He loved to travel around the U.S. via Greyhound bus. Once he traveled to Hollywood and was an extra in the TV show "Wings"! And in 1985, he traveled to Cebu, Philippines in 1985 to visit our parents when they were missionaries there, a very memorable trip for him.
He was able to live independently until about three and a half years ago when he was diagnosed with rapidly advancing Parkinson's disease. He put up a brave fight, but he gradually lost muscle control and progressively was unable to walk, and swallowing and talking were increasingly difficult. He did not complain, which was inspiring and yet painful to watch. His only family, his sisters, visited him in the care centers. Karen was especially helpful to him, handling all of his medical and financial affairs for him. He also looked forward to Kelly's weekly visits from the Basilica and wished he could go there again. He passed away peacefully at The Missions on Medicine Lake in Plymouth.
Greg is survived by his three sisters, Patty Hoeft of Willmar, MN, Nancy Hagfors of Edina, MN, and Karen Fagerstrom of Crystal, MN, and seven nieces and nephews.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Warren, and his three brothers Jim Hagfors, infant brother "Bobby", and Tom Hagfors.
A memorial service for Greg will be held on Saturday, October 22, at 2:00 pm,with visitation at 1:00, at Glen Haven Chapel, 5125 West Broadway, Crystal MN. There will be a time for coffee and remembrances after the service. Blessed be your memory, Greg, our last brother.
