Greg was born in East Grand Rapids to the late Joseph and Lynn Harrant. He grew up in Saginaw and graduated from SS Peter & Paul High School. He retired from Blue Cross & Blue Shield as a Senior Account Rep and then worked at Morley Travel for a number of years.
Greg loved spending time with family and friends, but he cherished most the precious time he was able to spend laughing together with his sons. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, and watching sports, especially MSU, the Lions, and the Tigers. Greg served his community as a member of The Midland Exchange Club, where he was a past vice president of the national chapter. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, as well as the American Legion, The Midland Moose Lodge, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a past member of the Midland Chamber of Commerce. He never met a person he didn't have fun with.
Greg is survived by Anita, his beloved wife of 28 years, his son Gregory Jr (Angie) of Suttons Bay, and his daughter-in-law Kari Harrant-Herzog of Dewitt; grandchildren Alex (Emily), Madeline, Anna (Jake) Mathson, Mitchell, and Mia; great-grandchildren Lyla Mathson, Dean, Elise Mathson, and Clay; his sisters Pam Duke, Kim (Mike) McWilliams, and Gina (Ron) Gable, along with many nieces and nephews.
Greg is preceded in death by his youngest son Brian Harrant and his sister Judy Schneider.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3109 Swede Avenue. Father Rob Howe will officiate with burial to take place later in Midland City Cemetery. Gregory's family will receive friends at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, on Friday from 3-7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Midland Exchange Club.
