Gregory “Greg” Scott Newman, 52, of Eufaula, Oklahoma passed from this life on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Greg was born on December 21, 1972 in Santa Maria, California, the son of Odie L. Newman, Jr. and June E. (Havlu) Newman. In 1980, the family along with Greg moved to Eufaula, Oklahoma. Greg graduated from Eufaula High School in 1991. He went on to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1992, proudly serving his country for 9 years as an AFTC Transportation Specialist. While enlisted, Greg spent time in Texas, North Carolina, Alaska and Germany (Operation Desert Storm). Upon leaving his career in the USAF, Greg then attended Northeastern State University and earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree in 2006. Greg taught middle and high school math in Tulsa Public Schools, Wainwright and Haskell School systems for a total of 9 years. He enjoyed teaching his students and helping them not only grasp math concepts but apply them to daily life. Greg truly loved his students. Outside of work, Greg enjoyed watching movies, reading and spending time with his Dad at the shop or on the farm.
Greg is survived by his father Odie Newman of Eufaula, his mother June Newman of Omaha, Nebraska, his sister Lisa (Newman) Bridges and husband Les of Platte City, Missouri, his children Miranda Newman of Oregon and Tyler Zachery and wife Megan of Oklahoma and a grandson Jeremiah. He is also survived by close friends Lee Anne Rothock and Traci Carr, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and students from his years of teaching, and his sweet German Sheppard Arya.
Greg is preceded in death by his grandparents Odie and Opal Newman of Indianola, Oklahoma and Howard and Eileen Havlu of Santa Maria, California.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greg Newman Scholarship Fund for a Eufaula High School Scholarship. The bank account is Arvest Bank, 110 S 1st St., Eufaula, OK 74432. Checks may be made payable to Lisa Newman or Arvest Bank with Memo: Greg Newman Scholarship.
