Gregory Jerry Perry was born in Paterson, New Jersey on July 31, 1963, to Glenorious Perry & Morton Perry. He married his high school sweetheart Patricia Perry on July 30, 1988. They welcomed their first and only child Ayanna Niambi Perry (Holliday) on January 28, 1992. Together Greg and Pat dedicated their lives to Jehovah on July 11, 1998.
Gregory, best known as JP, could be described best as multifaceted. Being raised in the Bronx in a large family, Gregory made his presence known with his dynamic personality, sense of humor, and bright smile. Greg was a natural born leader always ready to take charge and lead the way to the next adventure. He loved nature, geography, astronomy, and science fiction with one of his favorite genres being Star Wars. Most of all he loved his family. Often described as a "fun loving guy" he found great joy in entertaining family and friends and making them laugh.
During his high school years in 1981 is when Greg met the love of his life, Patricia. As their love grew, they became inseparable creating memories to last a lifetime. After graduating from John F. Kennedy high school, Gregory immediately went into the Army where he became a specialist in communications ranking as a private first class. After being honorably discharged, Greg went on to graduate from Bronx Community College alongside Patricia. Gregory then went back to obtain his bachelor's at John Jay College of Criminal Justice where he joined the New York Police Department. The majority of Greg's career was in social work playing an instrumental role as a counselor for multiple foundations in both New York and Washington state. Often labeling himself as a lifelong learner, Greg later went on to receive his master's in business administration. Four years after their marriage, Greg and Pat welcomed their daughter Ayanna who he often referred to as his "pride and joy". He loved being a dad and teaching Ayanna everything he knew.
Greg's spiritual journey began in New York when he agreed to study with a brother from the Upper Concourse congregation in the Bronx. After relocating to Washington state the first time, his search for bible truths was reignited when he accepted a study from brother Mark Stimpson. After his baptism in 1998, Greg's hunger and love for bible truths deepened. Greg served as Ministerial Servant for many years in Washington state and Georgia and loved to mentor and encourage the youths of each congregation he was in. He was well known for his thought provoking and inspiring talks along with his heartfelt and long prayers. In the last few years his health began to decline. Although his health limited what he could do in his service, he still maintained his strong love for Jehovah.
On May 18 Gregory Perry was rushed to the hospital and on May 19, 2023 he unexpectedly fell asleep in death. To know Greg was to love him and he will be sorely missed. His passing truly is a loss to anyone who ever encountered his vibrant presence.
Gregory is survived by his wife Patricia, his daughter Ayanna, son-in-law Jonathan, father Morton Perry, his siblings Sandy, Deborah, Mecca, Lisa, Naomi, Monica, Alyce, Marcella, Paul, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Preceding him in death is his Mother Glenorious, siblings Patricia and Derek, and nephews Shaquan and Sean.
