Gregory Paul Rector, 78, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Born July 28, 1946 to Harvey Boston and Virginia (Huth) Rector. Greg lived a life defined by deep love, quiet strength and unwavering dedication to his family. Greg graduated from Coventry High School in 1964, attended University of Akron for a year then joined the U.S. Navy in 1968. Greg was active duty for two years and of those 2 years he served on a destroyer in the Vietnam War before getting discharged in 1971. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Boston and Virginia (Huth) Rector; his two brothers, James and Michael Rector and sister, Linda Lowe; his father-in-law, Charles C. Foutty and sister-in-law, Cindy Hause; and his very special dog, his girl "Isabella Rose". Greg is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lonna Rector; his three girls he lovingly raised as his own, LeAnn Cannon (Kevin), Susan Vasaris, Melissa Eagon (James). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Emily (Andrew), Kimberly and Delaney Cannon, Natalie Richards (Jackson), Ariana (Mike) Vasaris, Natalia Rivera and his one and only buddy Matthew Mallinax and his treasured great grandchildren, Scarlett Beverlin, Remi Maye, Rowliala Moye and Willow Vasaris. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ronnette Foutty; his brother-in-law, Timothy Foutty, and sister-in-law, Alana Drobny and many nieces and nephews. Greg was an avid softball player and he always wore #5. He also was a bowler and golfer. There wasn't a Wednesday night or a Saturday or Sunday that you would find him at the nearest golf course. Private inurnment will take place at OWRNC at a later date
