Mr. Gregory Scott (Honey Bun) Wells, 69, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at his residence.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 PM at the Greenville 2nd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
A native of Redondo Beach, California, Greg was born to the late George and Willowein Alhiser Wells. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He later made his home in Pitt County following his military service. Greg worked as a Detention Officer for Pitt County for more than 15 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in a number of capacities.
Greg was an avid sports fan who enjoyed following East Carolina University, Brigham Young University and Dodgers baseball. He also enjoyed attending local High School football games and in his earlier years, was an umpire for Little League and High School baseball games. For many years Greg also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed dressing up as one of Santa's helpers for many years and loved serving in the community with the Marine Corp League and the American Legion.
A loving son, brother, father, grandfather, foster parent, and friend, Greg will be greatly missed by the many who knew and loved him.
Greg is survived by:
Wife of 49 years, Jennifer Guthrie Wells;
Daughters, Laura Elizabeth Baysden and husband, Matt, of Chesapeake, VA
Cherie Lynn Wells of Grifton, NC and
Lethe Ann Wells of Farmville, NC;
Grandchildren, Darby Muncy, Daisy Muncy, Devin Muncy, Nebrea Matthews, Isis Daughterly, and Hendrix Hargett;
Brother, Steven Wells and wife, Carol, of Durango, CO;
Sisters, Marilyn Feldman, of Laguna Hills, California and
Marjorie Ferguson, of Carpinteria, California.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at the church prior to the service.
