Gregory White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bartley Funeral Home - Plainview on Jan. 9, 2026.
Reunited with his lord and savior, Gregory Lyle White passed away on January 8, 2026, in Lubbock, TX. A Visitation will take place on Monday, January 12, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bartley Memorial Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview, TX, with Rev. Ed Jennings officiating. Arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview, TX.

Greg was born on February 16, 1948, to Lyle Bertchel White and Flora Isabel Hibbler White in Mangum, OK. He married Phyllis White on May 28, 1965, in Shallowater, TX.

Greg was passionate about the thrill of the open road, and his beloved Harley-Davidson was always his motorcycle of choice. In recent years, he also enjoyed riding his Can- Am 3-wheeler. For over sixty years, he worked as a plant supervisor in PVC pipe manufacturing. Above all, family time was precious to him. He cherished vacations in Ruidoso and took immense pride in the children he raised, who grew into responsible adults and have all done remarkably well for themselves.

Greg played the fiddle and cherished his seven grandchildren. Karl held the special distinction of being his first grandchild. Joseph and him had a tradition of celebrating July 4th together by setting off fireworks. He was so proud of Kendra of earning her Bachelor's in nursing. Rosie and Karl had the privilege of spending one weekend a month with him and Nana while they were children. He started Hollie on the fiddle and thought she could play better than anyone you ever heard. Jonathon shared the love of Motorcycles with him and enjoyed some rides together. Bailey worked alongside him at Western Ag for two or three years. In fact, all of his grandsons worked with him at Western Ag at various points in their lives.

Greg was his grandchildren's biggest supporter, faithfully showing up for sporting events, concerts, graduations, and weddings. Every Christmas, he personally delivered cards with money to each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing a single one. Family meant everything to Greg, and he wore his pride in their accomplishments like a badge of honor.

Greg is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis White; his parents, Lyle Bertchel White and Flora Isabel Hibbler White; his brothers, Perry White and Stacey White; and his brother-in-law, Terry Horner.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Wayne White (Becky) of Dumas, TX, Connie Jo Boschert (James) of Plainview, TX, Stephen White (Crystal) of Plainview, TX; his sister, Melinda Horner of Whitney, TX; his brother, Danny MacWhite of Show Low, AZ; his sister-in-law Renny White of Shallowater, TX; his brother-in-law, Jessie "Lloyd" Gainer of Olton, TX; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend, Danny Rhodes.
