Gregory A. Wilson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory A. Wilson, age 75. Greg passed away unexpectedly on Sunday May 11, 2025 with his beloved wife Kathy by his side. The son of the late Gerald M. and Geraldine A. (Dettmar) Wilson, he was born on March 23, 1950 in Saginaw. Greg graduated from John Glenn High School in 1968 and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Army. He then attended Delta College and graduated from Saginaw Valley State College with an associate degree. Born with the gift to talk and have a conversation with anyone, he was a perfect fit for his work as an outside salesman with Euclid Block, Golleen Block, 4D Builders and then Grand Blanc Cement.
On December 17, 1971 Greg was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, the former Kathleen M. Peterson, and together they have shared a wonderful life. He enjoyed so many of the simple things including boating, grilling on Sunday's, listening to music, playing instant lottery, mowing his lawn, and of course admiring with pride his newly mowed lawn! He loved spending as much time outside as he could, whether it was boating for many years on his pride and joy his Liberator boat "The Absolute" or spending time at their cottage in Au Gres. In his younger years Greg was an avid hunter, and his sister would help him clean what he brought home and his dear Granny would cook it up. He always had a love for Sheltie Collies, especially his own Heidi and Cheyenne that gave him unconditional love. Holidays meant so much to him, especially Christmas, that held a special place in his heart. Greg and Kathy made wonderful memories every year as they found and cut their own tree, brought it home and decorated it together, always with Christmas music playing.
Over the years Greg and Kathy became avid travelers to the Aruba, Cayman Islands, Jamica, Bora Bora and Hawaii. Greg fell in love with Maui and they have spent their winters there for the past several years.
Greg's quick wit and joyful, playful teases made him a favorite to his friends. An open and charismatic individual, he was always looking forward, excited about the next traveling adventure. Greg will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing.
Greg is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Kathy; a sister, Sandy (Chuck) Tackett; sister-in-law, Debbie Peterson; and his special nephews, Nick Fox, Mason Tackett and a very special Godchild and niece, Jennifer Peterson (fiancé, Brandon Drews). Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald M. and Geraldine A. (Dettmar) Wilson; a sister, Patricia Wilson; his father and mother-in-law, Marvin and Marge Peterson; and a brother-in-law, Jeff Peterson.
A private family celebration of Greg's life will be held at Trahan Funeral Chapel with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army. In lieu of flowers, for those who so desire, the family suggests donations in Greg's memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
