Passed away on August 25, 2025, at the age of 77 years.
Gail was born on June 9, 1948, to the late Walter and Evelyn (Bromfield) Kackmeister. A graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Gail completed her high school education in the class of 1966. She then pursued further studies at Delta College, earning an associate degree in business. She married William J. Surdock, Jr. on May 4, 1985; he predeceased her on February 2, 2013.
Gail had a nurturing spirit and devoted her life to her family. She is survived by her beloved children, Shauna (Scott) Clark and William (Chloe) Surdock, who carry forward her legacy. Her joy continued through her grandchildren, Peyton, Charlotte, Henry, and Levi, all of whom she adored and showered with love. Gail also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends, who will forever remember her kindness and warmth.
In her personal life, Gail found great pleasure in tending to her flower gardens and going for walks, where she found inspiration in nature. Above all, she dedicated herself to being the best grandma she could be, creating a nurturing environment steeped in love for her grandchildren. Gail used her nurturing nature to volunteer as a paraprofessional and office professional at Hemlock Public Schools and as a PTO member for her children when they were in school.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Evelyn (Bromfield) Kackmeister, her husband, William Surdock Jr., her daughter, Angela Houston, and her brother, Gary Kackmeister.
