Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and dog mom passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, with her family at her side. Age 70 years.
The daughter of the late Lloyd Elbert and Adeline Mabel (Bonnell) Thomas, Jody was born on November 20, 1954, in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Hemlock High School with the class of 1972. Jody furthered her education at Michigan State University, Central Michigan University, and Saginaw Valley State University, ultimately earning a Doctorate Degree. Her dedicated career as a Special Education Teacher at Thompson Middle School was marked by a profound commitment to her students and their development. A devoted member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, she was actively involved in her faith community. Her love for animals was evident in her cherished companionship with her dog, Angel, and her generous support for the Humane Society. In her leisure time, she found joy in reading, practicing yoga, and frequently visited local farmer's markets
Surviving are her daughter, Amanda (Ross) Anderskow; grandchild; Stevie Anderskow; sisters, Barbara (Thomas) Kochendorfer, Patricia Thomas, Ruthann (Paul) Clark. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Honoring Jody’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2565 N Miller Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609. Rev. Kirk Abatelli will officiate. Burial will take place at Richland Township Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Humane Society of Saginaw County.
