Gretchen Ledbetter, born on December 11, 1951, in New Albany, Indiana, departed from this world on October 11, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Surrounded by her loving siblings, Gretchen's final moments were filled with warmth and the presence of family, reflecting the profound connections she nurtured throughout her life.

A cornerstone of her community, Gretchen was in the graduating class of 1969, at Charlestown High School. This set the course for her to carve out a remarkable career, retiring from Hilliard Lyons, where she was highly respected in the field of financial planning. Her dedication and commitment to going the extra mile for her clients left a lasting legacy, one that will continue to benefit those she served long after her departure.

Gretchen was not just an accomplished professional; she was a gentle-hearted spirit who radiated love and support to everyone in her life. Described as loving, quiet, and trustworthy, she had the gift of making those around her feel at home. Her family and many special nieces and nephews cherished the moments they spent with her, knowing they could always count on her kindness and loyalty and felt like they were hers as well.

An avid reader, Gretchen found joy in the pages of countless books, often visiting the library for the latest titles and sometimes delighting in rereading her favorites. Her love for classical music was another cherished aspect of her life, providing a serene backdrop to both quiet afternoons and lively gatherings. She enjoyed going out to the movies and creating lasting memories with her family, which inspired laughter and shared experiences.

Gretchen is survived by her dear brothers Chuck and Kay Ledbetter of Charlestown, Tom and Shirley Ledbetter of Florida, Ben and Susie Ledbetter of Charlestown, Joe and Terry Ledbetter of Henryville, and Jimmy and Kelly Ledbetter of Henryville. She is also survived by her loving sister, Benita and Keith Fischer of Charlestown, and sister-in-law Carole Ledbetter of Louisville. Her family extends to many special nieces and nephews who adored her and hold her memory dear to their hearts.

Gretchen was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ben Dolphus Sr. and Mary Agnita O'Bryan Ledbetter, along with her brother Larry Eugene Ledbetter and sister Mary Lou Clapp, as well as many special aunts and uncles who contributed to her rich family life.

Her gentle spirit and unwavering support of those she loved will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will continue to shine through the lives she illuminated during her time with us. In remembering Gretchen Ledbetter, we celebrate a life dedicated to kindness, loyalty, and the love of family—a life that has truly left a mark that words can scarcely encapsulate.

Gretchen was celebrated and remembered privately by her loved ones, who honored her wishes and shared the joy she brought to their lives.
