Brenda J. Combs, a beloved matriarch and successful entrepreneur, passed away on October 9, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her family. Born on May 12, 1949, in New Albany, Indiana, Brenda was known for her vibrant personality and deep love for her family. She was the proud owner of a chain of restaurants in North Carolina, which reflected her passion for bringing people together through food and community.
Brenda attended Charlestown High School and was an active member of her community. Her spirit thrived in family gatherings, where she shared her love of card playing, yard sales, and picnics. She had a special fondness for Derby time, which brought excitement and joy into her life. Her fur baby, Monroe, was a cherished companion, embodying Brenda's nurturing nature.
Brenda was deeply family-oriented, spending countless cherished moments with her children—Dan Myers (Missy), David Myers (Michelle), Susie Combs, Angel Combs, and Natasha Combs—who all reside in Charlestown. As a grandmother to seven grandchildren and a great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren, her proudest accomplishments were found in the laughter and love of her family. She left behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by her warmth and kindness.
She has been reunited in spirit with her husband, Bill Combs, her parents Bud and Nell Justice, her brother Buddy Justice, and her sister Patty Rickman, all of whom were integral parts of her life.
Family and friends are invited to honor Brenda's memory at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, Indiana. Visitation will take place on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00.
