Grover L. (Junior) Jones, Jr., 86, of Hull passed away on December 9, 2024.
He was the son of the late Grover L. Jones, Sr. and Pauline Bullock Jones. Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Hull and a 1957 graduate of Madison County High School. After graduation, he worked with his father and brother, Buddy Jones, in their family business of Jones Construction where they built numerous residential houses in the Madison County and Clarke County areas. He and his wife later owned and operated Jones Grocery and Gas Station on Highway 72 in Athens until his retirement in 1997. Mr. Jones was a Veteran of the United States Army Reserves and a member of Hull Baptist Church where he attended most of his life until his health no longer allowed him to attend.
Mr. Jones was a loving husband, father and Grandaddy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Lovern Jones; parents, Grover L. Jones, Sr. and Pauline Bullock Jones; a sister, Weebie Ann Stamps, and brothers, Warren Jackson (Buddy) Jones, and Oscar Paul (O.P.) Jones. Survivors include his children, Patsy Jones Adams (Greg) of Hull, Billy J. Jones (Melanie) of Athens, Suzanne Jones Brown (Ray) of Danielsville; grandchildren, Tyler Adams (Kelsi) of Bogart, Trey Adams (Kathleen) of Athens, Amber Williams (Jamie) of Charlotte, NC, Caleb Jones (Mallory) of Colbert, and Kaylee Brown of Danielsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at Hull Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jeff Tinsley, Rev. Jeff Wells and Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Adams, Trey Adams, Caleb Jones, Randy Jones, Eric Jones, Darren Jones, Robert Stamps, and Dave Lovern.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hull Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 68, Hull, GA 30646.
The family would like to thank Family Hospice of Athens with a very special thanks to JaVee, Casey, Marci and Crystal for their exceptional and compassionate care during the past year.
