Guenther Karl Brucha, resident of La Grange Park, IL, passed away peacefully, on April 6, 2023 at age 89.
Born on June 22,1933, Guenther grew up in southern Germany before immigrating to the United States in 1957.
A lifelong adventurer, Guenther and his dear wife, Anita, traveled with tireless enthusiasm. Together they experienced the many cultures and landscapes of Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe and the Americas, making friends wherever they went.
Always challenging himself, Guenther's passion for nature, health and sport, drove his multiple journeys, backpacking the Appalachian Trail, from Georgia to Maine. Known as "Moosburger" to his fellow hikers, his feats on the trail are an inspiration.
Guenther was an avid gardener. He loved spending hours in the sun, tending the family's garden, trees and fish pond, nourishing his fascination with nature.
A loyal friend, he was always the first to lend a hand. Guenther found great joy and kinship singing in the The Reinischer Gesangverein, a German mens choir.
Guenther shared his passion and love of learning with all, and especially with his family, who loved him and are inspired by his very well lived life.
Beloved husband of Anita Brucha, nee Kalweit; cherished father of Taryn (Martin Finio) Christoff, Eric Brucha and Bernard Brucha; dear grandfather of Jackson Finio and Rae Finio; brother of Ingrit Bachmeier, Werner Brucha, Berbe (Benji) Schmid of Germany, and Rika (John) Stanek; uncle of many nieces and nephews.
