Guy Franklin Byassee, age 84, died Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at his home in East Prairie, Mo.
Born July 2, 1940, at Dorena, MO, to the late Kelly Franklin Byassee and Pearl Winders Byassee, he grew up in Mississippi County and then left to live in Arizona where he would embark on a long career with Case Tractor. Having also worked as a truck driver, when he returned to East Prairie in 1989, he went to work for Edward Trucking and remained there a number of years.
In 1960, he married Faye Dean Day, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his sons, Kelly Byassee and Mike Furlong; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; his sisters, Pat Golden and Sharon Ritzler, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his son Guy Byassee, Jr.; his daughter, Tonya Ann Byassee Mazeall; two grandsons, Michael Joe, Jr., and Mike; his brother Norman Kelly Byassee who was killed in action in Vietnam and his sister, Mary Dwyer.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon, Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Dawn Walters, pastor of the First Church of God in East Prairie, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
