Guy Lowe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Marler Funeral Home - Cushing on Oct. 7, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Guy Russell Lee Lowe, affectionately known as Russell to his family and friends, concluded a life marked by faith, adventure, and service on the 1st of October, 2025, in Drumright, Oklahoma. Russell was born on September 8, 1934, in Drumright, Oklahoma, to Lera Elizabeth (Bateman) and Guy Grady Lowe.

He was an alumnus of Pleasant Hill School in Drumright and Olive High School, where he graduated in 1952. His active engagement in the 4-H program and work on the family farm were examples of his commitments and interests. Russell furthered his education in Bartlesville attending Central Christian College, now known as Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City.

Russell's robust work history spoke of a man who loved to learn and engage with the world around him. Having enlisted in the United States Army, he served his country with pride before obtaining an Honorable Discharge. Russell channeled his skills into various professions, including as Technical Consultant for Generator Sales at Onan/Cummings and later as a Real Estate Broker in Tulsa for Century 21.

He also operated a Daylight Donut shop in Wichita, Kansas, which was popular and thrived. He was beloved in his role as a School Bus Driver for Tulsa Public Schools and later served travelers as a Commercial Tour Bus Driver for Red Carpet Tours, which allowed him to explore the length and breadth of the United States. Russell earned his pilot's license for single-engine planes and experienced the thrill of skydiving-an adventurer at heart.

He remained committed to the family farm in Creek County near the house where he and his siblings grew up. He helped raise Black Angus cattle on those same hills and meadows for the majority of his life. He repeatedly said how blessed he was and how beautiful the farm was. He had enormous physical strength and endurance. He often whistled while he worked. He loved being on that farm, surrounded by a large, close-knit family.

With Helen Barnes, Russell was father of two children, Deborah Joyce Sisk of Florida and Michael Lee Sisk of Tulsa. His survivors include Deborah and Michael as well as his sister, Martha LaMascus of Drumright, sister-in-law, Joan Lowe of Drumright, and brother-in-law, Dale Baird of Houston, Texas. He cherished visits to the farm by his many nieces and nephews now living across the nation. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Lera Elizabeth and Guy Grady Lowe, his siblings Betty Baird, Hobert Lowe, and Janie Brooks, and two brothers-in-law, Reece Brooks and Richard LaMascus.

Christian faith was a cornerstone of Russell's existence. He grew up a member of the Creek St. Church of Christ in Drumright and later was an active member at the Garnett Road Church of Christ in Tulsa, 9th & Linwood Church of Christ in Cushing and Broadway Church of Christ in Drumright. He was known at church for his excellent bass voice in acapella singing.

Those who knew Russell recognized his unwavering commitment to family reunions and to his faith guiding his journey through life. As we remember Guy Russell Lee Lowe, we recall a man with a tender heart and who regretted only his own mistakes. He would give generously from his modest means to almost anyone. He loved classical and opera music, ice cream and most desserts. In later years, he especially enjoyed his regular coffee klatches, including at Happy Corner store in Olive.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Viewing will be available on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
