GWENDOLYN R. 'GWEN' FOWLER, age 87, of Piqua went to be home with the Lord at 10:12 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Homestead at Logan Acres, Bellefontaine, OH. She was born in Knoxville, TN on April 12, 1937 to the late Harry E. and Dora L. (Morgan) Thomas. On October 23, 1955 in Knoxville, TN, she married Wayne M. Fowler. He preceded her in death on October 26, 2023.
Gwen is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Tammy (Jim) Peterson, Huntsville, OH; one brother and sister-in-law: Harry O. (Cecilia) Thomas, Tallahassee, FL. one sister-in-law Amy Thomas, Limestone, TN; one brother-in-law: Paul Kerstetter. Lebanon, OH; four grandchildren: Matt (Kristin) McGraw, Drew (Jenny) McGraw, James (Ashley) Peterson, and Jordan (Maria) Peterson; eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son: David Michael "Mike" Fowler, one great-grandson: Matthew Dierks McGraw, sister: Gloria "Gay" Hawk, one brother Dewey L Thomas and one sister-in-law: Barbara Kerstetter.
Gwen graduated from Central High School in Knoxville, TN. She worked in the medical field for 25 years. Gwen was the Medical Staff Co-Ordinator at St. Ann's Hospital in Columbus, OH. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.
A celebration of Gwen's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua, OH with Pastor Bryan Meadows officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Universal Home Health and Hospice, 921 Rush Ave, Bellefontaine, OH 43311 or Homestead at Logan Acres Activity Fund, 2739 County Rd. 91, Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
