Gwendolyn E. Holloway, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, in
Chesapeake, Virginia, at the age of 92. Born on December 24, 1932, in Selma, North Carolina, she lived a life filled with love, dedication, and quiet strength.
Gwendolyn was the devoted wife of the late Marvin H. Holloway. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace W. Severa and Pansy P. Severa; her grandson, Evan D. Franklin; and her sons-in-law, Ron Thomas, and Eddie Richardson.
After graduating from Kempsville High School, Gwendolyn began her career working in a downtown department store. She later contributed her organizational skills as a secretary and bookkeeper for her husband, Marvin's company, Chesapeake Tree Service. However, her most treasured roles were those of homemaker and caretaker, lovingly looking after her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, ensuring they were surrounded by warmth and affection.
In her spare time, Gwendolyn enjoyed reading newspapers and magazines, always keeping herself informed about the world around her. During the last decade of her life, she delighted in traveling to various destinations with her daughter Susan, creating precious memories. Her passion for flower gardening brought beauty and tranquility to her surroundings.
Gwendolyn is survived by her beloved daughters: Cathy Holloway Moscopulos, Susan Holloway Spencer and her husband Randy, Sandra Holloway Williams and her husband Lee, brother-in-law Travis Holloway and wife Bonnie, sister-in-law Evelyn Holloway, and a host of nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Tina Ehret, Shaun Richardson and his wife Ryanne, Chelsea Castellow and her husband Thomas, Nicholas Moscopulos, and Chloe Franklin. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Taylor, Zack, Zoe, Logan, Izzy, Skye, Marlie, Wyatt, Jack, Kirra, and Riley. Gwendolyn is also survived by extended family members, Jimmy, Donny, Glenwood, Lassiter, and Dee Dee.

A dedicated volunteer, Gwendolyn gave her time to the PTA and various children's events, supporting her community and enriching the lives of many young people.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gwendolyn's life during a visitation on April 8, from 6-8 p.m., at Oman Funeral Home and Crematory located at 653 Cedar Rd,
Chesapeake, VA 23322. A funeral service will be held on April 9 at 10:00 a.m. also at Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, with a graveside service immediately following at Rosewood Memorial Park located at 631 N Witchduck Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
