H. Linkous Obituary

Published by McComas Family Funeral Homes - Bel Air on Mar. 21, 2017.
H. Blaine Linkous, age 83, of Fallston, MD passed away at his home on March 21, 2017. Born in Pylesville, MD he was the son of Thomas Pryor Linkous and Henrietta (Badders) Linkous. He was married to his best friend, Shirley Maines Linkous, for over 50 years. He was the owner of Harford Insulation and was prominent in the Maryland Home Builders Association. As an active member of Union Chapel UMC, he sang in the men's choir and served on numerous committees. His friends and family all agree that he was the kindest and nicest man you have ever met and would do anything for anyone. He was a giving person and anonymously helped many people throughout his life. He loved his family more than anything and they always came first. He volunteered at the homeless shelter where he would spend one night a month, and was involved in Operation Christmas Child, traveling to Charlotte, NC several years to pack shoeboxes. Blaine was a proud member of the first graduating class of North Harford High School in 1951. He loved attending the Highland School Alumni reunions. After his service in the U.S. Navy, he became a member of the V.F.W. He was a Mason and a member of the Harford Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America. As a lover of antique cars, his collection included a 1951 MG TD, a 1950 Chevy pickup truck and an antique Farmall tractor which he displayed at shows and drove in numerous parades. He would give anyone a ride and meant for everyone to enjoy them. He loved the beach and spending time at their cottage in Kitty Hawk, NC. Mr. Linkous is survived by his wife, Shirley; his daughters Sondra Meinhardt and Mitzy Dillman, and their husbands Richard and Jim; grandchildren, Adam Meinhardt, Hope Meinhardt, Victoria Dillman and Natalie Dillman; and brothers Terry Linkous and Mike Linkous. In addition to his parents, and his step-mother Grace Linkous, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lissa Meinhardt; his sister, Opal Whiteford Blair; and his brother, T. Vernon Linkous. Those who desire may make donations to Amedysis Hospice of the Greater Chesapeake, 7106 Ridge Road, Suite 100, Rosedale, MD, 21237.

Blaine oozed love and was loved by everyone he touched with his smile and kind words while showing his undivided attention to anyone who had the privilege of crossing his path. Blaine walked the walk and talked the talk. He will forever be a fond memory in many hearts. I was blessed to have known him. May you feel God's peace, Shirley and Sondra and Mitzi and the rest of the family knowing that Blaine is in his forever home. Much love to all!

Dear Shirley, Sondra, Mitzy and family. I am very sorry for you loss. Mr. Blaine was one of the kindest men I have ever met. There weren't to many Sunday morning that I wasn't greeted with his infectious smile and a hug. He was a man of great faith and love. May he rest in peace with his eternal Savior.

Ms. Shirley, Sondra, Mitzy and family, I am very sorry for your loss. Mine and Jeff's thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. I grew up with you, Sondra, and Mitzy and remember what a great dad you had. He was always so kind, loving, and thoughtful and was always there to talk to like my own father. He had an infectious smile and I will always remember him riding behind the wheel of his MG around town smiling and waving to all he knew. We are keeping all of you in prayer and if you need anything, please don't hesitate to call! God bless you and may His strength be with you. Love to all!

I've had the privilege & honor of knowing Blaine Linkous for 35 years. We started out our relationship when I was a salesman for CertainTeed Insulation trying to sell Blaine insulation for his company Harford Insulation. We became fast friends & he was my #1 customer as well. That lasted for 6 years, then I went to work for another company not related to Blaine's business. During those 6 years & ever since, I & my families have been treated like a member of their family. Weddings, birthdays, births, anniversaries, vacations at the Outer Banks, NC, meals, entertainments and funerals. Through all these events one thing I would like to accentuate: Blaine was always a man of Faith, loving, kind, patient, caring, extremely generous & loving & living life, while helping others!
We will always miss him until we meet him again in Heaven above!!
With all our Love & Prayers always to Shirley & her wonderful family,
John & Suzanne

Shirley, Sondra, Mitzy and family, My heart is saddened by Blaneys passing. So many years (25) living with him at Harford , so many wonderful stories to remember, His faith and family were so important. Mostly he would tell me I am going to post office, 9am and I would not see him til after lunch. then he would stand at the counter with his paring knife and eat an apple or orange. Always, Janet and Norman

Shirley, Not many people can say they had the privilege of being married to the same person for 50 + years. That alone speaks volumes for the love you guys have for one another. Thank God you had each other and you will always have him in your heart. I know your girls will be there for you as well as the rest of the family. If there is anything I can do for you please know I will. Take good care of yourself!!
