Hampton Monroe White Sr.

Hampton Monroe White, Sr., 89 of Hubert, died on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Onslow Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of the US Army in the era between the Korean and Vietnam wars. He helped establish a rescue squad in the town of Swansboro and served in the United Methodist Men organization for many years. He was a long-time resident of Onslow County, working in the construction industry both locally and remotely as a superintendent of many large commercial projects. He held a real estate license for several years and ran his own residential construction company thar restored historic homes. For a season, he taught classes at Carteret Community College at night, preparing students for contractor licensure. He was known for his sense of humor, generosity, and out-of-the-box problem solving. He rarely passed a Salvation Army kettle without folding some cash into it.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Swansboro with the Rev. Jim Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M.

Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Miles, Sr. and Monte Muriel Riddle White, and his brother, Alvin Miles White, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Glendya Parker White of the home; son, Hampton M. White, Jr. of Hubert; daughters, Heather M. White of Hubert and Suellyn White Thompson and her husband, Stan of Hubert; grandchildren, Kurt and his wife Breena, Ericka, Haley and Alyssa; great grandchild, Julius.
