Hannah Baker Obituary
Hannah joined Julie and Stewart Baker's family on May 15th, 1991, just two days after her birth. This eagerly awaited youngest sister was lovingly welcomed by siblings Kelty, Eliza, Jessica, and Josh, and the entire Baker clan. Hannah eventually sought out her birth family in Stigler, Oklahoma, with whom she established a loving relationship, particularly with her aunt, Candy Zachry.
Hannah was baptized at The Church of St. John the Divine and sealed as Christ's own forever, under the protection of her godparents, William B. Stewart and Becky Stewart. She accepted Christ at age 12 at Kanakuk Kamps in Colorado. Her youth group at The Church of St. John the Divine became the source of her spiritual guidance, fun and growth. At St. John's School, Hannah played field hockey and soccer and discovered her undeniable artistic talent.
Hannah traveled to Italy with her parents, where as a child she fed pigeons in the great piazza of Venice and ducks in the ponds of the Veneto. She charmed the Italian waiters, who presented her with heart-shaped pizzas and Italian serenades, and she happily ate all the Italian gelato any little girl could wish for.
Hannah loved Galveston Bay her entire life, and spent endless hours collecting sea glass at Mooner Beach. She learned to sail at Texas Corinthian Yacht Club, where she befriended both children and their parents.
In 2010, Hannah married Hayden Griggs, the son of Jim and Pam Griggs. They welcomed Hannah's oldest daughter, Marley Elizabeth. Around this time Hannah began her career as a property manager for her parents' firm, where she leased and managed apartments, making close friends with tenants.
In 2017, Hannah married Alexander Collins, the son of Andrew Collins and Olga Arroyo. Hannah and Alex have three children, Addison Lacie, Sterling Alexander, and Konrad Inge.
Hannah shared her love of animals, nature, the sea, camping, art, bicycling and adventure with her children, family and friends throughout her life. It was a good ride.
Hannah was deeply loved.
Family and friends will gather for a reception in memory of Hannah Elizabeth Baker on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Bradshaw-Carter Home, 1734 W. Alabama St. in Houston from five until eight o'clock in the evening. A private committal will take place on another date.
A note to guests: Please forgo wearing black or any other "boring colors". Hannah loved bright colors and all forms of beauty, and she would have wanted attendees to dress in bright, vibrant attire.
