Hans Carl Hansen, 82, of Richland Center died on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the University Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 11, 1943, the son of George and Julia (Eisbroden) Hansen. Carl graduated from Blue River High School and went to work at Shell Super Service. He served in the US Army from 1965-1967 and was stationed in Okinawa. On October 21, 1972, Carl was united in marriage to Ardith Schaffert. After his discharge he went to work at Lunenschloss Hansen Furniture and Floor Covering from 1967 until 1983 and transitioned to the Pratt Funeral Service from 1983 until his retirement in 2005. Carl was very active in his community being a member of the Richland Center Fire Department for over 20 years, President and Treasure of his snowmobile company, a member of the Backroad Express Riders, and a member of OMHS. Faith was very important to Carl, he was a lifelong member of the Five Points Lutheran Church, serving as the President of the Church Council and member of the Choir. Carl and Ardith loved to travel, play cards, spend time with friends, and go out to eat.
Carl is survived by his wife Ardith of Richland Center;
Sister: Irma (Don) Miller of Richland Center and their sons: Doug, Tim, Mark, Daniel;
Great-niece Natasha and her family;
Sisters-in-law: Connie (Leonard) Frye of Richland Center,
Annette (Don) Clark of Richland Center;
Niece and nephew: Melanie (Mark) Harper, Mike (Tammy) Frye;
Sister-in-law: Nancy Schaffert;
Niece Kathryn (David) Awe and family, Breanne Rackus
Special cousin Diane (Phil) Zimmerman of Iowa;
Friends at Schmitt Woodland Hills;
Many other relatives and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law James Schaffert, and niece Rebekkah Schaffert.
Funeral services will be held on Carl and Ardith's 53rd Anniversary on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with military rites to follow the funeral by the Local Military Memorial Honors Unit. A livestream will be available at the Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service website. Burial will be held in the Richland Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 10:00 AM. The family suggests memorials in Carl's name be directed to OMHS, Five Points Lutheran Church, Schmitt Woodland Hills or the Richland Center Fire Department. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
