Harold J. Bloom, 82, of
Corry, PA, passed away peacefully and entered into Gods Kingdom on Saturday, December 13, 2025, Born on March 11, 1943, in Bellefonte, he was the beloved son of the late Harold R. and Charlotte C. (Bloom) Shuey. On April 17, 1966, in Bellefonte, Harold married Alice P. Brown. Together they shared many years of devotion until her passing on September 21, 2021.
Harold attended State College Area High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1962 to 1965, achieving the rank of Private. Throughout his life, he worked various jobs across the Centre Region, always known for his steady work ethic and quiet dedication. He was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Church in Bellefonte and held a deep and abiding faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Harold found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He had a true green thumb and loved tending to his garden. He also enjoyed peaceful walks, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and coloring. Above all else, Harold cherished his family. Time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him his greatest happiness.
He is lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Anna Witherite of
Corry, PA, and Charlotte Emel and her husband, Todd, of
Port Matilda, PA; his son, Jeff Bloom of
Aransas Pass, TX; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, Robert "Jed" Shuey and his wife, Nita, of Center Hall; and his sisters, Ruth Carson of
Swansboro, NC, and Alice "Sue" Holt and her husband, Danny, of Philipsburg.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lyn Bloom and nine siblings.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating, at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg. Burial will take place at Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harold's memory to the Gentiva Hospice Program, 1119 Park Ave. #7, Meadville, PA 16335.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many hospice staff members who compassionately cared for Harold over the years. Their kindness and dedication meant more than words can express.
