James Harold Green was born on November 8, 1963, and stepped into eternity on August 15, 2024. Harold was raised in Samantha, AL, and graduated from Northside High School in 1982. He spent time in Texas working in the oil fields. After several jobs, he found that his future was working with asphalt. He loved learning and went to many classes to obtain the highest regard in his line of work. He spent time at TTL, Inc., West Alabama Asphalt, Khafra Engineering and finally wrapping up his career as a Transportation Technologist Sr. with the State of Alabama West Central Region. His passion in life was music and he spent many years playing drums and singing with different local groups, including Indian Summer, TransAm and Farmers Daughter. Harold loved writing his own music and helping others with theirs. Some of his happiest moments in life came from spending alone time in his studio where he could let his creative side shine. He was amazingly talented; he loved to make people laugh and always could bring a smile to your face and we are the better for it. Harold loved Jesus, he loved food, he loved Alabama football, and this combination led to some very exciting Saturdays with friends and family. Praise the Lord, pass the ribs, Roll Tide! Harold married the love of his life, Joi Chandler, in February 1993. They have been inseparable for 33+ years. In Joi he found his forever soul mate, who would stand by his side to the end, holding him as he took his final breath. Harold gave his heart to Jesus in 1995 and was excited and proud to be baptized alongside his daughter Holley. Because of this, we know Harold is in our future, not just our past.
Harold is survived by his mother, Louise West Green, his wife Joi, and his baby girl Holley B; her children, Caden, Ruby Star and Sunni Jade, his son Trey B; his children, Aiden and Sabiana, his daughter Ivy and her children, and daughter-in-law Leslie Cross. He is survived by his parents-in-law, Jim and Harriett Chandler, who devoted much of the last 6 months to helping care for Harold. Other family includes, Jeff and Elizabeth Chandler, Jeremy Chandler, Norman and Wanda Green, Dale Green, Diane Jones, Morgan Beasley, Conner and Dallas Chandler, "His Girl" Katryn, and fur babies Rudy & Ms. Maimie; also numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Joi would like to thank Keith Hudson and Kim Aldridge, of Alabama Central Glass, for their patience, love and support through this past year of difficulty. And thank you David Ray, the cousin who came running each time you were called! Thank you, friends and family, for all the prayers and the love throughout this journey. Thank you also to Janet Norred of Hospice of West Alabama; you helped with the transition.
Join us for the Celebration of Harold's life on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 1:00pm, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A private burial, for immediate family only, will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, immediately following the service. Officiants will be Jeff Chandler, David Shelnutt and Randy Kelley.
Serving as Active Pallbearers will be Jeff Chandler, Katryn Chandler, Conner Chandler, Caden Longoria, Ruby Longoria and Aiden Green. Past and present coworkers of TTL and ALDOT, former bandmates and fishing buddies will be recognized as honorary pallbearers. Thanks, and love to Randy and Ruth Kelley.

Hello Joi. This is Ashley Steele. I used to work with Harold when he was working in Fayette. I am so so sorry to hear about his passing. He was the absolute nicest guy! He really loved you, your family, and his music. He will truly be missed! Please accept my condolences.

I went to school with Harold. He was so funny and gave the teachers a run for their money! I saw him around town from time to time; I am sorry, I didn't know he had been sick. What a remarkable memory of the shared baptism. You will see him again, and that will be quite the reunion. Praying for the family.
