Lincolnton - Mr. Harold Dean Humphries, 88, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his residence.
Harold was born on September 15, 1936 in Rutherford County, NC a son of the late G.C. Humphries and Ruby Silvers Humphries. He was retired as a supervisor from J.P. Stevens in Lincolnton. Harold was an active member of Gainsville Baptist Church in Lincolnton where he served in various capacities over the years including music director for 35 years, former deacon, chairman of deacons and former Sunday school teacher for 60 years. He loved any kind of tool and enjoyed working in his workshop.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Garland Humphries.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Martin Humphries of the home; two sons, Dwayne Humphries and wife Karen; Marty Humphries and wife Tanya all of Lincolnton; a brother, Ronald Humphries of Marion; three grandchildren, Kylie Richardson (Drew); Lauren Travis (Rusty); Cassie Goodman (Tyler); seven great-grandchildren Bianca Travis, Averie Richardson, Jaxon Goodman, McCoy Travis, Beau Richardson, Kamden Goodman and Kaiden Goodman.
The family will receive friends from12:45PM to 1:45PM on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Gainsville Baptist Church in Lincolnton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Gainsville Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Holland and Ernie Richards officiating.
Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gainsville Baptist Church, Sign Fund, 270 Gainsville Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
