Geraldine Turner Beam, age 84, of Bessemer City, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Terrace Ridge Assisted Living. She was born August 7, 1941, in Cleveland County to the late Wilbur and Mary Elizabeth Lankford Turner. Geraldine was a faithful and longtime member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where she served as church counsel treasurer for many years and on various committees. A graduate of Tryon High School, Geraldine then worked for Sweetree Mills for a short time before going to work with BB&T where she retired as a bank teller. She and her husband loved western dancing. Geraldine also enjoyed reading and adored cats. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed going shopping with her daughter, and cherished spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Marion Beam; son, Phillip Eric Beam; brother-in-law, Tommy Crocker; and sister-in-law, Julianna Powell.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori Beam Ward and husband, Todd; daughter-in-law, Janet Ayers Beam; grandsons, Gus Beam, Jacob Ward, and Ethan Ward; sisters, Judy Howell and husband, Quay, and Martha Crocker; sister-in-law, Jane Nichols and husband, Larry; brother-in-law, Robert Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, at 4:00 pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Minister Brad Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 3:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
