Harold Gene Hurst, 82, of Levelland passed from this life on Monday, June 10, 2024. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Krestridge Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
Harold was born on August 25, 1941 in Eastland, Texas to Pete and Veda Payne Hurst. He lived most of his life in Eastland and Lubbock. Harold graduated from Lubbock High School in 1959. In November of 1960 he joined the United States Army, where he served his country before retiring from the Army Reserves in 1982.Harold married the love of his life Cecelia on June 30, 1961.He worked for AMACO for 30 years before retiring in 1994. Harold attended South Plains College where he received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in 1996.
Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His greatest joy was his family. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his younger days, he enjoyed coaching his children in Little Dribblers and baseball. He enjoyed attending anything and everything his grandchildren were involved in.
During his free time, he loved baking up a storm. From his pecan pies, pumpkin rolls, and breads to his cookies and peanut patties; he spread love and joy through every bite. Baking was truly his love language.
Harold was a kind and compassionate man who not only loved his wife and family, but also loved his friends, neighbors, and community; but above all else he loved his Lord and Savior. Harold also loved his country, and showed that through his service in the Army. He was proud to be an American. Overall, Harold Hurst was an amazing man who will be deeply missed, but will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia Hurst; his parents, Pete and Veda Hurst; and a close family friend, Janette Groll.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his daughter, Stacy Schulle and husband Derek; son, Bart Hurst and wife Charlotte; brothers, Jerry Hurst and Darrell Hurst; sister, Pam Redman; grandchildren, Lyndi Nicholson and husband, Jake, Laurran Hurst, Hestin Hurst and wife, Amy and Landon Schulle and wife, Alex and great grandchildren, Samson, Kash and Pyper Nicholson and Adaline Hurst.
