Harold John McGrath (Jack), 97 of South Yarmouth, MA, and formerly of Westwood and Natick, died on Monday, December 8, 2025. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 72 years, Pauline (Donoghue) McGrath (Paula).

Born and raised in Hyde Park, son of the late Robert and Marion (Bencoski) McGrath, he attended local schools before leaving school to join the workforce to help support his family. Jack obtained his GED after joining the Army. During the Korean War, he served in both Japan and Korea earning several badges and awards.

After leaving the Army, he married Paula in May of 1953. They lived in Westwood and Natick before retiring to the Cape in 1993. Jack worked as a pipe-fitter plumber for both Carlings Brewery in Natick and Polaroid Corp. in Waltham for many years.

Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his five siblings Robert and Albert McGrath, Marion Smith, Lorraine Bestwick, and Shirley Devens.

Jack is survived by his children Wendy McGrath of Folsom, CA, Scott McGrath (Donna) of Northbridge, MA, Holly McGrath of Tucson, AZ, and Gary McGrath (Diana) of Lyman, NH. He also leaves his nine grandchildren Derek, Kevin and Brandon Schroeder (Ahilen), Cassie(Tom Satriale), Garrett, Shannon, Logan, Brianna and Corinne McGrath, and two great-grandchildren Atlas and Calder Satriale.

The family would like to thank Maplewood at Mayflower in South Yarmouth and Broadreach Hospice for caring for Jack in his last days.

Military graveside services will be held in the Spring at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at the convenience of the family.
