Nancy Mc Carthy, 86, of Dennisport, passed away unexpectedly at her home on December 9, 2025. She was predeceased by Fred McCarthy, her husband of 41 years. Nancy was born in
Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late Benjamin Entwistle and Evelyn (Shaw) Entwistle. She was a graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School, class of 1957.
Nancy enjoyed a very full and vibrant life, cherishing time spent with her family and friends and her beloved dogs. Her faith and music were very important to her. She was a woman of many talents, creative and artistic. She enjoyed hosting, playing bananagrams, gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, and sewing.
Throughout the years, Nancy had several careers, including dog breeder, small business owner, and florist. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Pembroke Florist and Dennisport Dollhouse. She served as organist at several churches on the cape, including 6 years at Dennis Union Church and over 26 years at Orleans United Methodist Church, where she was also Choir Director and an active member. Recently Nancy transferred her membership to the South Yarmouth United Methodist Church and was enjoying her new church home. She was also a member and officer of the American Guild of Organists.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Cynthia McCarthy of Port Charlotte, FL, and Leslie McCarthy of Acton; two stepgrandchildren, Adrianne DaSilva of Seattle WA, and Timothy Desrosiers of Acton; one great grandchild; two sisters, Susanne Hill of
Fall River, MA, and Martha Salazar of El Dorado, CA; a brother, Thomas Entwistle of Sparks NV; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her stepson, Fred McCarthy, and two brothers, David and Leslie Entwistle.
A celebration of life service will be held at Yarmouth Methodist Church on January 24, 2025, at 10:00AM. Donations in her memory can be made to the MSPCA of Centerville or South Yarmouth Methodist Church.
