Harold Toplis McKean, Jr., affectionately known as "Toppy," age 68, of Leet Township, formerly of Collier Township, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. He was born on June 25, 1957, in Pittsburgh, PA, the beloved son of the late Harold Toplis McKean, Sr. and Margaret Sharkey McKean.
Toppy was a proud Pittsburgh sports fan, cheering faithfully for the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. Deeply patriotic, he carried a strong love for his country and an even greater devotion to his faith-often saying he "had God in the palm of his hand."
He was a member of Montour Presbyterian Church, where he also played dart ball. Toppy was proud of winning the Championship, being named Rookie of the Year, and-most special to him-earning the award for "Most Likeable Teammate."
Music was one of his greatest joys, especially gospel songs and the classics of Elvis, Ray Stevens, and Johnny Cash. He loved to sing, strum his air guitar, and watch his favorite shows-The Dukes of Hazzard, John Wayne movies, wrestling, Walker, Texas Ranger, Knight Rider, and The Gaithers. When he wasn't singing or watching TV, Toppy could often be found working on his paperwork or enjoying a lively game of Uno.
Toppy is survived by many loving family members and friends. He held a special bond with his nephew Joel Kellar and cousin Bonnie McKean Greenhouse. To know him was truly a blessing, as his kind heart and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone around him.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the extraordinary staff at Watson House of the Verland Foundation, who cared for Toppy with love and treated him as their own family.
Private services were held, and Toppy was laid to rest with his parents at Montours Presbyterian Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.
