John S. Capan

John S. Capan, 78, of Ross Township formally of Reserve Township, passed away peacefully at UPMC Passavant Hospital on Thursday, September 18th 2025, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Felicia Ferko Capan.
John was born on January 2, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA and was the son of the late Joseph and Barbara Capan. He is survived by his three children, Stephanie Capan, Melissa (Michael) Walters, and Kristina Capan and granddaughters Madison Walters and Katelyn Walters.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Joan Yonick, Frank Capan, Mary Capan, and Barbara (Michael) Haller. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
John graduated from North Catholic in 1964 and from Robert Morris University in 1971. He received a bachelor's degree in business and was a member of the AMS Society. He proudly served two years in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era from 1966 to 1968.
John loved gardening and landscaping his yard and took pride in all of the work that he did around his home. He loved going to the beach, watching Sunday football, living next door to his granddaughters and watching them grow up. He spoke with such pride and joy whenever he talked about them. He had a special bond with his dogs and was never without one or two of them running around the home.
In honor of his wishes there will be no formal services. Private arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care. A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date.
