Harold Bishop Morgan, Jr., 89, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at his home.
Harold was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana on August 26, 1936, to the late Harold, Sr. and Virginia (Wells) Morgan. He was a 1954 Reitz High School graduate, attended the University of Evansville and later, Murray State University. After several years at International Steel, he and his family relocated to Paducah, KY where he was employed at the Atomic Plant. Harold was also an engineering employee in several west Kentucky chemical plants in Calvert City where he excelled in Structural Chemical, and Civil Engineering.
He married the former Gay Salyer, had two children, and they later made their home in new Kuttawa, KY where he was Port Director for the Lyon Co. Port Authority in Eddyville. Harold was very active in civic affairs, served as a City councilman, Mayor Pro Tem, a volunteer fireman, a certified EMT, and a lay speaker at Kuttawa United Methodist Church. He was also a scout leader for his son's boy scout troop. Harold opened his own business called The Drafting Room, but later was employed at Apex Engineering Co., where he retired from the Mt. Vernon, IN office in 2001. Following retirement, and after writing several Genealogical books, he began researching World War II about Evansville and the tri state. Harold became a World War II Historian and published 7 books regarding war time in Evansville and enjoyed giving lectures and slide shows to students and large audiences. He also wrote Monthly articles for the Maturity Journal entitled "Hometown History". Harold was a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir, and sang with the Wolfgang Orchestra and Chorus. He later was a member at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Harold is survived by his son, Rick Morgan (Kandace) of Spottsville, KY; daughter, Kathy Robertson (Bill) of Evansville, IN; one grandson, Cameron Morgan (Bailey) of Henderson, KY; one granddaughter, Katie Robertson of Evansville, IN; the mother of his children, Gay Morgan; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 11:00 am until service time on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Browning Funeral Home.
