Harold E. Phillips, age 89, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Kirkwood by the River in Birmingham, AL. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Lake United Methodist Church with a private burial to follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Dr. Kevin Thomas will be officiating.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil N. Phillips, and parents, Hardy and Mary Ella Phillips.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Jackie P. Chappell (Billy) and Barbara P. Taylor (Jeff); grandchildren, Jamie Taylor Mincy (Josh), Forrest E. Taylor, Will J. Chappell III (Katherine), and Callie P. Chappell; and great grandchildren, Wade Mincy, Warren Mincy, and Mary Wesley Chappell; and brother, Julian F. Phillips.
Harold Edwards Phillips was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on December 25, 1934. He grew up in Knoxville, AL and graduated from Greene County High School. He joined the Navy and was stationed in Hawaii before attending the University of Alabama, where he earned his accounting degree. During his college days, Harold was engaged to his love, Sybil. After graduation, Harold started his career with Arthur Anderson. Wanting to get closer to home, he joined Jamison, Money, and Farmer where he soon became partner. After retiring in 1998, he filled his time with traveling, working with the Master Gardening Association, and church activities.

Pallbearers will be Billy Chappell, Jeff Taylor, Will Chappell, Forrest Taylor, Brian Phillips, and Doug Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Genecians Sunday School Class at Forest Lake United Methodist Church and past and present shareholders and employees of Jamison, Money, Farmer P.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Forest Lake United Methodist, 1711 Fourth Ave., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
