Harold F. Robinette, formerly of Schaffer, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Southern Arizona VA Hospital in Tucson, AZ. He was born on June 24, 1932 in Hardwood, MI, son of Joseph and Louise (Peronto) Robinette. Harold attended school in Felch and graduated in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.
On July 19, 1958, Harold married Carol A. Schermer at the Sacred Heart Church in Schaffer. He was a wonderful husband of 66 years, a loving father and grandfather. Harold was employed with the Chicago and North Western Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1992.
Harold and Carol raised their family in Schaffer residing there since 1958, and have enjoyed over 25 years at their home in Tucson, AZ during retirement. Harold was an active member of the Highland Golf Club and Tucson Estates Golf Club. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cribbage and tending to his garden. As a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Harold was a eucharistic minister, active on the parish council and the cemetery committee. Harold helped start little league in Schaffer. Beyond all else he was a die-hard Tigers and Lions fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol now residing in Tucson, AZ, children, Joseph (Jane) Robinette of Jacksonville, FL, Dr. Timothy (Mary) Robinette of Destin, FL, and Dale (Barb) Robinette of Coronado, CA; grandchildren, Dr. Steven Robinette, Dr. Michelle Robinette, Taylor Robinette, and Jordan Robinette, three great grandchildren, brother, Donald Robinette; and sister, Betty Cary.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard, Malvern, Marshall, and Robert; sisters, Pearl Davis, Viola Juneau, Alice Charlevoix, Shirley Johnson; sisters-in-law, Eleonore, Ruth, Marie, Arlene and Nancy Robinette; brothers-in-law, Ray Davis, Harold Charlevoix, Earl Cary, Allen Johnson and Clinton Juneau.
A visitation will take place at Crawford Funeral Chapel, 1236 Old U.S. 2 & 41, Bark River, MI 49807, on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 9 AM-10:30 AM. A Mass will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 11 AM with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating. Burial with military honors will commence immediately after mass at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schaffer followed by a reception at the church.
